Michigan Anti-Trafficking Project Label Program

MAP Label Program Re-Launch!

The Label Program has been a MAP program for many years. We put labels (pictured here) in the bathroom stalls in Rest Areas with pull-off tabs that have the Human Trafficking Hotline number on them. They are placed in the stalls because this is one place where a trafficked person will most likely be alone and have the ability to take one of the tabs without the trafficker knowing. When they call the Hotline number they will be directed to someone able to help with their immediate situation and get them resources.

Unfortunately during COVID, the Label Program was halted in Michigan. We have persevered and through many conversations were able to successfully receive approval to place them in Rest Areas again! We are deeply grateful to Nathan Miller at the Michigan Department of Transportation for his work in helping to bring the labels back.

Volunteer Information

We’re looking for volunteers to place the labels on the inside of the bathroom stalls (on the inside of the doors of each stall in the restrooms) at Michigan Rest Areas and Welcome Centers. We will need both men and women volunteers in order for this to be a reality. After the labels are placed, the only request is to visit the rest areas again a couple times a month to check on them, report how many total stickers have been taken, clean up any that have been misplaced, and replace any that need replacing.

Will you join us!?!

Our dream is to have labels in every Rest Area in Michigan. In order to make this dream a reality we will need a large group of volunteers! This is a great way for you to make a meaningful impact on supporting Survivors of Human Trafficking and helping to end it altogether. It is not a large time commitment, so if you have previously been prevented from volunteering due to time constraints, this could be a great place for you to get involved.

If you have questions about the Program or would like to volunteer, please reach out to: labels@map-mi.org

If you know that you would like to volunteer, you can fill out the form below by clicking on it and then sending to: labels@map-mi.org.

Our Label Director, Rebecca Schafer will contact you when it is received.

Donations to the Label Program

We ask for donations to cover the cost of labels to keep this important program going. If you would like to donate, click on the button below.  In the “add a note” section, please let us know which Rest Area you will be donating to. If donating in general, no need to add a note unless you want to!

Thank you!

Set Free – 2015

Set Free was a powerful, interactive human trafficking family-friendly awareness event.  Over 15 churches united together and put on a two-day event that educated, connected, inspired and activated teens and adults, families and churches to be a voice for hope to end this evil in our day through the power of the Gospel of Jesus. Over 800 people attended the Friday night event and hundreds of people came over the two days to learn at exhibits, listen to testimonies, become educated from an expert panel, shop at the Freedom Marketplace and more…
