SUMMARY:A Cup of Hope: Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:[Episode 17] December 2\, 2020:\nThe Role of Men in the Fight Against Sexual Exploitation\nPanel Discussion with Special Guests \nThe reality of sexual exploitation is that  EVERY SINGLE person can be vulnerable to this.  Men\, women\, children…the question then is: WHO’s battle is this?  What we can say for sure is\, women must lead this movement given that 90% of the victims of rape/sexual assault in the US are women and girls. But it is just as essential that men step up as allies and take up their fight against this alongside women.  Join us as we discuss the role of men in the fight against sexual exploitation.\n\n  \nSpecial Guests:\nD/Lt. Edward Price has been part of the Michigan State Police since 1995. As a Michigan State Police Detective Lieutenant at the 2nd District Special Investigation Section\, he supervises detectives in Southeast Michigan. He also investigates homicides\, rapes\, robberies\, child sexual assaults\, police shootings\, public corruption\, and other major crimes. D/Lt. Price is also federally deputized by the FBI. He has instructed at several law enforcement centers on the topic of child sexual exploitation and major sex trafficking criminal enterprises. D/Lt. Price has been certified as an expert witness in sex trafficking in Michigan\, Ohio\, and Tennessee. D/Lt. Price is also assigned to the Southeast Michigan Trafficking and Exploitation Crimes Task Force (SEMTEC)\, which is an FBI Task Force that was established in 2007 to investigate the exploitation of children by means of sex trafficking in Southeastern Michigan. The task force responds to Amber Alerts for missing and abducted children in the State of Michigan\, and investigates major child sexual abuse material cases\, as well as adult human trafficking matters. D/Lt. Price is a Commissioner on the Michigan Governor’s Human Trafficking Commission. \nDavid Traugott is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Redwood United.  Redwood United is a strategic relational community of leaders and organizations committed to changing our world for good.  Redwood United provides relationships and resources to help organizations accomplish their missions more effectively.  David and his wife\, Kelly\, and their four children live in Charlotte\, North Carolina. \nHaris Ahmed\, BHS\, SDPT. An early passion for healthcare has led Haris to work and study in the field of physical therapy for the past 5+ years. He has obtained several experiences as a physical therapy technician in a multitude of medical settings including outpatient\, hospitals\, and nursing homes. In 2018\, Haris graduated from Oakland University in Rochester Hills\, MI\, and received a Bachelor’s in Health Science with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy. Haris commenced his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2019 at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo\, Utah. During his studies there\, Haris has undertaken a leadership role in coordinating and participating in bi-weekly discussions about health disparities. In October 2020\, he completed his initial clinical rotation at AllPro Physical Therapy in Canton\, MI. Haris’ commitment to restoring the quality of life of the individuals he treats\, establishing a therapeutic alliance with his co-workers and patients\, and providing evidence-based care guides his motivation for working in the field of physical therapy. \nClick here to view prior webinar recordings

SUMMARY:A Cup of Hope: Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:[Episode 16] November 4\, 2020\nA Guide to Ethical Shopping\nSpecial Guest: Emily Smith\, Owner of Adored Boutique\n\nDid you know an estimated 152 million children are forced into child labor around the world? In fact\, there’s a good chance several of the goods you own and frequently purchase have been produced by slave labor. How can we use our everyday choices to demand the production of slavery-free goods? Join us as we explore one of the most impactful ways everyday people can get involved in the fight against human trafficking – conscientious consumerism. \n\n  \nEMILY SMITH’S BIO \n\n\n\n\nIn September of 2016\, I left my secure employment of 19 years and followed God’s call on my life to change my career. I walked away from the boat into His great unknown and started a business in a field I had no experience in. God broke my heart for the things that break His\, regarding the global human trafficking industry\, and I decided I was going to become part of the solution. \nAdored Boutique opened in December 2016 in Grand Rapids\, Michigan. All of my artisan groups and vendors have gone through an in-depth assessment and have provided documented verification of their manufacturing processes and environments. As a result of my intentional ethical purchasing\, to date\, Adored Boutique has paid an estimated 3000 months of above living wage salaries for vulnerable artisans around the globe. Additionally\, through our 15% profit give back\, Adored has contributed over $25\,000 toward human trafficking prevention\, rescue\, and restoration efforts in the United States. \nIf you would like more details or to discuss having me speak at your event\, please contact me directly at emily@adoredboutique.com. You can read more about my story at www.adoredboutique.com. \n\n\n\n\nClick here to view prior webinar recordings

DESCRIPTION:[Episode 14] September 10\, 2020: Uncovering the Truth (Part 2)\nLive Q&A Session with a local FBI Agent\nRecently the media and social media platforms have been flooded with claims that the popular furniture company\, Wayfair\, has been involved in a complex scheme involving sex trafficking of children.
