DESCRIPTION:The Canton Community Group meets the 3rd Sunday of every other month 6-8pm at Connection Church. Each month will feature a speaker\, service project or movie. \nIn January\, SHE3 will be watching the documentary ‘NOT MY LIFE’. This is a comprehensive film depicting the cruel and dehumanizing practices of human trafficking and modern slavery on a global scale.\nFilmed on 5 continents\, in a dozen countries this will take you into a world where millions of children are exploited\, every day\, through an astonishing array of practices including forced labor\, domestic servitude\, begging\, sex tourism\, sexual exploitation\, and child soldiering.\n(approx. 64min long)\nThe group will also have note cards and paper\, markers and pens\, etc . to make cards to send to All Worthy of Love in Detroit. Up Detroit Auto Show- West Event.\n\n\n\n Human Trafficking is the 2nd leading crime in the world….and in the U.S! \nWith over 100\,000 children being trafficked nationwide and over 1 million missing and runaway youth\, S.O.A.P.needs your help to rescue these young victims. \nMetro Detroit S.O.A.P.(Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution) will team up for its 6th Detroit Auto Show Outreach\, with local organizations to educate hotels on the red flags\, mobilize volunteers to help label bars of motel soap with the national human trafficking hotline number and pass out missing children posters just before the Auto Show comes to Detroit. \nWe need YOUR help! \n***If you are planning on paying the $10 at the door\, please still register below\, so we know how many people to prepare for. Thank you!  \nTaylor Senior Center \nSaturday\, Jan. 7th\, 2017 \n9:30am- 3pm \n\n Agenda: \n9:30am Sign in and prepare soap  \n10:00am Training and Survivor Testimony: Human Trafficking 101 education\, how to do S.O.A.P.\, signs to look for\, how to talk to hotels. \n11:30am Lunch Provided: $10 donation requested to cover our costs \n12:00pm Hotel Outreach: Leave for hotel outreach to look for missing girls and educate hotels on Human Trafficking \n2:00-3:00pm Return and Report: Turn in tips sheet along with any soap leftover \n\n RULES: \n*Must be over 16yrs. to go out on hotel outreach. (Can attend training and label if younger) \n*Must have written parent permission to go to hotels if you are 16-18yrs. years old. \n*Those 16-18 yrs. will be required to ride with an adult while doing hotel outreach. \n*We ask that all participants dress MODESTlY. You may be going to at risk hotels and around questionable people. Your saftety is our first concern. \n*No short shorts\, halter or half shirts\, short skirts\, or camisole tops. \n Donations needed: \nThe success of this outreach is only possible with the donation of cases of soap!!! \nThe more soap we have\, the more we can get out to hotels and thus\,the more victims we can potentially save. \nPlease consider donating to help us with this. One case of soap is $150 (1000 bars) \nYou can purchase a case to be labeled at the event or pre purchase a case and have your group label them prior to the event.
