here’s the problem:
HUMAN TRAFFICKING EXISTS AND IT EXISTS IN MICHIGAN
What is human trafficking?
Human Trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which traffickers use force, fraud or coercion to control victims for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or labor services against his or her will.
There are 28 million victims worldwide.
81% of victims are trapped into forced labor
75% of victims are women and girls.
Human Trafficking is a 150 BILLION dollar industry.
This is the 2nd largest criminal industry in the world, after drug trafficking
Michigan Abolitionist Project’s Response:
We aim to educate, engage and eradicate human trafficking.
Educate – we educate because there is a lot to learn about the complexities of human trafficking and how to prevent it
Engage – we inspire people to take action and we help them engage in activities that address root causes
Eradicate – we believe human trafficking can be eradicated by ending the demand that drives exploitation
